Amy | General manager
Since Cafe Rosetta opened, Amy has filled just about every role imaginable, from baker to barista to kitchen manager. Between running the cafe and staying busy with her kids, Amy loves basking in the Keweenaw’s scenic solitude, especially in October when the air is crisp and the sky is an amazing blue. A favorite adventure is biking along the railroad tracks while keeping an eye out for caves, waterfalls, and berry patches.
Favorite drink: classic latte in the morning, black coffee with a Dutch dunker in the afternoon
Bev | Head Baker
Bev is the kitchen magician behind Cafe Rosetta’s legendary made-from-scratch menu. After growing up on Campbell’s soup and WonderBread, Bev fell in love with the art and science of homemade deliciousness. When she’s not tinkering with new recipes, Bev loves wandering the hills, woods and streams of her family’s 80-acre Keweenaw property, especially in the winter. She boasts the proud distinction of having 100% Finnish ancestry–her grandparents even worked in the Copper Country mines.
Favorite drink: Cafe miel
“My husband raises bees, and the homemade honey really makes it special.”
Elizabeth | Barista
When not lighting up Cafe Rosetta with her positive energy, Elizabeth can usually be found somewhere in or around Lake Superior–swimming, paddle boarding, or playing guitar on the beach. She loves all seasons in the Keweenaw, but might prefer autumn by a hair for the colors, the smell of the woods, and the size of the waves. Every summer, she follows the coastline from Eagle River to see how far she can get before her legs give out.
Favorite drink: Peach blackberry Italian soda, or iced cafe miel made with brève
Trey | Barista
Born and raised in the Keweenaw, Trey loves spending time with his big family and planning his next international travel. (He still dreams of the gelato in Florence, Italy.) In the summer and fall, he can be found hiking all over the Keweenaw–he recommends braving the treacherous path of Bare Bluff to reach the spectacular view at the top.
Favorite drink: Cafe miel
Kristyn | Baker/server
Born and raised in Trap Rock Valley, Kristyn is a mom of five, a small business owner, and a baker since the third grade. (She took the job at Cafe Rosetta because she got bored!) She specializes in gluten-free recipes–her GF pumpkin bar is a highlight of autumn. Summertime finds her spending hours at Bete Gris with her family–“It’s like a Florida beach in Michigan, just with hills in the background.”
Favorite drink: Cafe miel made with breve
Jocelyn | Baker/server
Along with being a coffee roast connoisseur (her favorite is the Sea Smoke blend), Jocelyn is a devoted explorer who loves taking her family and friends on Keweenaw adventures in every season. She waits all winter for the chance to jump into Lake Superior at Bete Gris.
Favorite drink: Honeybun latte made with coconut milk
Aaron | Barista
When not pulling shots at Cafe Rosetta, Aaron loves biking the trails at Michigan Tech or hiking to the Mouth of Montreal.
Favorite drink: Cortado
A Keweenaw native, proud alumna of CHS, and devoted nature lover, Olivia always keeps a couple of hammocks and inflatable kayaks in her car for spur-of-the-moment adventures. (Her top recommended destination is Lake Medora.) Her favorite season is autumn, and her favorite way to spend it is sipping hot apple cider while looking for freighters during sunset on Brockway Mountain. You’ll know Olivia by her infectious energy and many beautiful tattoos–as of this writing, she’s getting her ninth tattoo.
Favorite drink: Honeybun latte
“It’s a cafe miel with cardamom and cinnamon. I stole the recipe from a coffee shop downstate!”
Cheyla | Baker/cook
Along with being an artist in the Cafe Rosetta kitchen, Cheyla is a photographer and fantasy/fiction writer, as well as an animal lover. She gets inspiration from the beautiful colors of autumn on the Keweenaw trails and from cruising on Lake Superior.
Favorite drink: Sandy Bottom latte
Ethan | Dishwasher
Summer, disc golf and Cafe Rosetta’s Nisu cinnamon roll–that’s all you need to know.
Levi | Dishwasher
The youngest member of the team, Levi has worked at Cafe Rosetta since he was twelve. His favorite season is winter, for the skiing, but he also loves soccer in the summer and hikes to the Mouth of Montreal any time of year.
Favorite drink: Bare Bluff latte
Charity | Baker/cook
When not working in the Cafe Rosetta kitchen, Charity lives for berry-picking season…which means just about any time of year (cherries in the spring, blueberries and thimbleberries in the summer, even wintergreen in the winter).
Favorite drink: Double espresso, pulled long.
“I do a 19-gram shot at 37 seconds.”
